Full day tour by coach and boat/ferry crossing with a dedicated tour leader.
Take in the highlights of stunning Lake Garda on a full day tour accompanied by a tour leader who will recount the history, culture and tales of this internationally renowned lake. During the day the scenery changes as you move from the flat plains of the south towards the rolling hills of the central part of the lake, followed by the cliffs and mountains towards the north of the lake.
The first stop is Sirmione, an elegant and upmarket town rich in history and one of the most picturesque towns on the lake. Arriving there you will spot the pointy Sirmione peninsula which reaches into the lake, the ancient Roman ruins “Grotte di Catullo” and the Scaliger Castle (Castello Scaligero) a remarkable medieval fortress and the symbol of the town. Enjoy a stroll through the bustling centre among chic shops, restaurants, cafes and ice cream parlours with their colourful and enticing display.
The journey continues by coach along the eastern coast, heading northward towards Limone, a quaint lakeside town surrounded by steep and dramatic cliffs, olive groves and lemon orchards, creating a uniquely natural setting with a relaxed, coastal atmosphere.
Limone has a rich history, dating back to Roman times. It was a centre for lemon cultivation, and since it has evolved into a popular tourist destination whilst retaining its historic charm. The town’s historic centre features narrow streets and colourful houses, making it a great place for leisurely strolls during which you can explore historic sites such as the Church of San Benedetto, which dates back to the 11th century.
Limone also boasts a delightful lakeside promenade with shops, restaurants and cafes offering breath-taking views of the lake and the mountains, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the scenery.
From Limone we will board the local ferry to chic and pretty Riva del Garda, admiring on-route the magnificent scenery of the rocky shores from the boat.
We disembark the ferry to meet our driver who will take us to Malcesine, a well preserved and fascinating medieval town surrounded by the natural beauty of Lake Garda at the backdrop of the Italian Alps. The town offers spectacular views of the lake and the towering Monte Baldo. Malcesine’s historic centre is a charming traffic-free area with narrow, winding streets, colourful houses, shops, restaurants, cafes and the medieval and prominent Scaliger Castle, a majestic landmark which dates back to the 13th century.
Nowadays, the Malcesine Scaliger Castle is highly popular with wedding couples who flock to Malcesine from all over the world to tie the knot, or to reconfirm their marriage vows. For more information and superb service please visit www.lakegardaweddings.com.
