A fun day out to enjoy the wonderful scenery and to sample the delicious local wines and food.
Valpolicella is a land combining beautiful nature with rich artistic and historical heritage, together with a variety of exquisite flavours. This delightful area in the province of Verona is dotted with small villages and ancient traditions.
Valpolicella is a grape-growing area north from Verona in Veneto region, with a longstanding tradition of producing great wines. Even during the Roman times, wine has been produced here due to the various and favourable microclimate and the extraordinary quality of the land which spans from the mountains down to the Valpolicella valley plains.
The rich Valpolicella soil is suitable for growing a variety of grape types, the most common being Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, which give rise to primarily rich, fruity red wines such as Amarone DOCG (top Italian wine), Recioto DOCG (delicious dessert wine), Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC, Valpolicella Classico DOC and Valpolocella Superiore DOC.
We will visit a well-known wine production site in the area to learn about the process of the Valpolicella wine production, followed by wine tasting. We will also visit a local farmhouse for lunch cooked by using local produce and ingredients.
Valpolicella wines are very popular in Italy, and they have also steadily been gaining popularity internationally as high quality wines that can be enjoyed with a variety of savoury or sweet Italian dishes.
Concierge – did you know?
The origin of the name “Valpolicella” can be traced back to the Latin wording “vallis polis cellae,” translated “valleys with many cellars”, showcasing the millennial tradition of wine production in this renowned Italian region.
